New Guild Blog

Just a quick note explaining why I’ve been so quiet — I’ve been working on our new guild blog. Guildmate Faydre came up with the idea and got us a host and domain name earlier this week. I dove in installing plugins and setting things up. I found a fantastic WOW WordPress theme, but of course being the geek I am, I couldn’t leave it alone. I hacked through the CSS and PHP files, and wasted hours in Photoshop until I had things the way I wanted it. It is still not perfect, but I enjoyed the process. I will likely move this blog to being self-hosted someday, as I prefer to have control over every little detail.

The idea of having a guild blog is an interesting one. We have a lot of creative people in our guild, including some amazing writers and artists. Not everyone wants a blog of their own, as obviously it is a lot of work. This will enable our members to share their ideas with the world, rather than having them hidden away in our guild forums where few receive their benefit. Jardal even set up a Twitter account for us: @parallelguild. I’m excited to see how things progress.
