Lions, Camels, Dragons (Oh My) Or… Cataclysm Mounts

Cataclysm adds a whole bunch of new mounts, from faction rep, dungeon drops, achievements and more. I’m a huge mount collector, so I thought that I would put together a reference guide. This doesn’t include any new TCG mounts or the new mounts for Draenei/Tauren Paladin.

Achievements

Drake of the East Wind acquired by completing Glory of the Cataclysm Raider:

These are your typical raid achievements, such as doing heroic modes of bosses.

Volcanic Stone Drake acquired by completing Glory of the Cataclysm Hero:

Heroic Dungeon achievements – just like the WOTLK one that awarded a Red Protodrake. I’m excited to see how difficult these turn out to be.

Guild Achievements

Golden King acquired by reaching Guild Level 25 -  Alliance Only:

Kor’kron Annhilator acquired by reaching Guild Level 25 - Horde Only:

The Horde version of the Golden King

Dark Phoenix acquired by completing Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider:

Basically you need to kill each of the bosses in the first tier of raids as a guild group. I’m hoping that Blizzard doesn’t take this one away when the next content patch is released, because then my guild might actually have a chance at it. I’m rather obsessed with Phoenixes, so this would be HUGE for me.

Alchemy

Vial of the Sands  – Reagents: Pyrium-Laced Crystalline Vial, Sands of Time (8),Truegold (12), Flask of the Winds (8), Flask of Titanic Strength (8), Deepstone Oil (8):

This is created via an alchemy recipe that drops from archaeology, and allows you to turn into the lovely orange drake above. It is going to be expensive to make, but I’m definitely planning on doing it. I just can’t pass up the “want to ride me?” jokes.

No its not the same thing as the sparkle pony, more like a spectral normal horse with wings (I swear, they’re different!)

Tan Riding Camel - Ramkahen, Exalted

Grey Riding Camel - Drop

This grey camel is not a reputation reward like the others. There are  Mysterious Camel Figurines scattered around Uldum, which have a chance of teleporting you to a special area full of camels and a mini-boss, Dormus the Camel-Hoarder. If you kill Dormus he will drop this camel.

This is much like the rare Blue Protodrake drop from Utgarde Pinnacle

Stonecore

Vitreous Stone Drake – rare drop

World Drops

Phosphorescent Stone Drake – Drops from Aeonaxx who flies around Deepholm

This is the  Cata equivalent to the Time-Lost protodrake. You find the rare spawn, Aeonaxx, kill him and acquire your new drake. Note that killing him involves a rather unusual mechanic. You must first mount him, and then kill him as he flys around the zone while on his back.

Quest

Subdued Abyssal Seahorse – acquired by completing The Abyssal Ride in Kelp’thar Forest

This mount only works in the underwater zone of Vashj’ir.
