Me
I’m a huge geek of many varieties. I like LOTR, Star Wars, reading fantasy, photography, web design, and computer programming, among other things. This blog is mostly focused on World of Warcraft, which has become a solid part of my life over the past 2.5 years.
In Real Life, I live in the cold northern state of Minnesota, with my husband(who plays a resto druid called Jardal). My day job is as a software developer (essentially staring at a computer all day and trying to make it cooperate, while receiving support emails from people who don’t know how to press a button).
If for some reason you really like my writing style and desire to read more, I have a personal blog over at ChampagneAndPixels.com.
My Guild
I’m a member of the Parallel guild on Kael’thas-US Alliance. We are a group of adults that enjoy all aspects of the game with good friends and low drama. We have no official guild master or officers, which means that we all have a voice in what happens with the guild. It’s a very democratic environment full of the kind of trust and that real life friends build.
We love achievements of all kinds, helping others with crafting, goofing around in vent, and running heroics or raids together. We even have a small PVP contingent. Our members are located all across the country – from New York to California, with a large contingent in Texas, and even a few Australians that pop in from time-to-time.
Most of us raid 10-man Normals, twice weekly for 2-3 hours (currently Tuesday & Friday from 7:30 pm CST – 10:30 pm) . Our raid team is very easygoing, and we don’t have any attendance policies. We’re always happy to teach others to raid, and would welcome new additions to our team. If sign-ups for raids get too plentiful, our intrepid raid leader does a nice job of rotating players in to give a fair chance to all. Our motto for raiding is “real life comes first” – if you sign up and something comes up, just make an effort to let someone know. Despite our casual attitude, our team is full of skilled players that know their class, come prepared, and are a pleasure to raid with. When schedules don’t sync up, we’ve been taking advantage of LFR to gear up and still do something as a group.
If you’re interested in finding a new “home” in WOW where you can relax, make new friends, and raid casually, I encourage you to contact me via the Contact page, or even send me a whisper in-game.
My WOW Characters
My main characters are a Draenei Resto/Elemental Shaman named Kaelyra, a Human Rogue named Kaelynn and a Shadow/Holy priest named Rainah. I also have a small army of alts that I may write about from time to time.
The Blog
This blog is mainly about being a “casual” WOW player. Not casual as in “fail”, but casual as in having a limited amount of time to play.
I will share stories about my time in-game, whether funny, informative, or simply ranting. I’ll try to provide resources and tips/tricks for other casual players who can’t spend hours sifting through complex math or theorycrafting, but want to play correctly. I may also post about Real Life, and other games that I play.
I’m a little bit obsessed with tweaking my UI, so that will be a common theme.
If there is one thing I can be an expert on, it is pointing you in the right direction about where to go for more expert advice
.
I’m currently most knowledgeable about Restoration or Elemental Shaman.
